ELEVATE Northeast Announces Summer/Fall 2021 Community Conversation Series Schedule

Free educational event series sponsored by MCR Labs kicks off on August 12, 2021

BOSTON, August 8, 2021 – 501(c)3 nonprofit cannabis education and community outreach organization ELEVATE Northeast Events and Education (“ELEVATE”) is proud to announce its 2021 Community Conversation Series of free educational events.  The 2021 schedule, sponsored by MCR Labs, kicks off with “State of Equity: Action and Allyship” at 6:00 pm ET on Thursday, August 12, 2021.

The “State of Equity” event is designed to provide a welcoming and accessible environment for a casual and comprehensive review of national and state cannabis equity policies and programs, and a discussion about what true allyship means in the cannabis industry. Created to educate and empower communities of disproportionate impact, this event will feature a dynamic panel of thought leaders including:

  • Tahir Johnson, Director of Equity and Inclusion at the Marijuana Policy Project (MPP);
  • Vanessa Jean-Baptiste, CEO and Founder of Legal Greens Dispensary in Brockton, MA;
  • Jason Ortiz, Executive Director of Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP); and
  • Chaney Turner, founder of Beyond Equity and Commissioner-At-Large with the Oakland Cannabis Regulatory Commission.

“The regulated cannabis industry is growing exponentially from coast-to-coast, and with that growth comes an increasingly urgent need and responsibility to take steps toward restorative justice and equity in the cannabis industry,” said TaShonda Vincent-Lee, director of community outreach at ELEVATE. “We are grateful to the team at MCR Labs for their enduring support of ELEVATE and their generous sponsorship for our 2021 Community Conversation events.”
